Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy (TUMP) was founded in 1968 as a campus of the Mountainous Medical University under Decision No.116/CP. Over the years, the institution has undergone three official name changes: Bac Thai Medical College in 1979, Thai Nguyen Medical University in 1994, and finally Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2008.
TUMP offers strong clinical training through partnerships with Thai Nguyen National Hospital, provincial specialized hospitals, district hospitals, and general hospitals in nearby provinces. These facilities are equipped with modern medical technology and staffed by highly qualified visiting lecturers, providing students with diverse hands-on experience.
The university continuously enhances its training quality and expands its programs to meet societal needs. It currently provides six undergraduate programs: Medical Doctor, Preventive Medicine, Odonto-Stomatology, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medical Laboratory Technology. Its postgraduate system includes 33 specialties such as doctoral programs, specialist level I & II, master's degrees, residency training, and other advanced medical qualifications. In addition, TUMP offers short-term and continuing education courses each year, which are widely recognized for meeting current healthcare demands.
