Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy was established on December 25, 2002, by the Decision No. 184/2002/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister, based on the Faculty of Medicine-Dentistry-Pharmacy of Can Tho University, which was formed in July 1979, located in Campus II of Can Tho University.
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy embrace the mission to be a center of education and scientific research responsible for training human resources in the field of Medicine and Health Sciences as well as applying research findings into healthcare services to meet the need of people in Mekong Delta and other regions of Vietnam.
Besides education, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy also focuses on doing scientific research, international cooperation projects, and applying research results, and new medical technologies to improve healthcare.
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has been consistently developed in terms of the physical environment, personnel and administration. In order to meet the goals, several new organizations were established, and the administrator was also extended, aiming for more effective pedagogical management.
The vision of the university towards the year 2025 is to be a University of Applied Health Science, a key university with excellent, integrating, and advanced training programs and a modern university hospital with high technology.
